HR-Werkt Traineeship (Marine Engineering)

Who are we?

We are an organization that offers young people and career changers a unique opportunity for education and employment in (maritime) technology: electrical, installation, welding/fitting. Engine technology: maintenance/overhaul. Climate (HVAC) and energy.

HR-Werkt is part of the HR Group, headquartered in the Netherlands and active in the maritime, infrastructure, civil, energy, industrial, and utility sectors.

Following the success of our training program last year, we are now again looking for 3-4 enthusiastic young people for September 2024.

Why?

The HR Group started in Bonaire. Located by the Caribbean waters, one of the busiest (navigational) routes in the world, and at the gateway to South America. The HR Group aims to offer its services and activities in the Caribbean and (South) American region, from Bonaire, in addition to Europe.

That’s why we’re looking for you.

HR-Werkt Bonaire is looking for 3-4 young people interested in a paid work and learning program offered by HR-Werkt for the upcoming school year (September 2024). This challenge gives you the unique opportunity to gain work experience while learning. Afterwards, you will return to the island as a skilled technician and part of the HR Group family. You will be building your own future and that of the HR Group.

What do we offer?

HR-Werkt offers you education, accommodation, work, and income. You will undergo a 1.5-year education program in maritime technology in Sneek (Friesland, Netherlands). The training will be paid for by us.

During this training, you will be carefully guided by a team of buddies and mentors (including Papiamento-speaking individuals from the Caribbean islands) who will do everything they can to help you succeed. You will have a unique opportunity to gain practical experience by working in various areas. We offer accommodation assistance, a car, and a good and fitting income.

What do we ask of you?

What will you do?

On Mondays, you will go to school, and the rest of the week, you will be working. You will receive a salary for this. You will be trained as an all-round (maritime) technician and will learn welding, fitting, and assembling piping systems, engine maintenance and overhauls, engine room installations for large commercial shipping, exclusive yacht construction, and industry.

The unique aspect of this traineeship is that after completing the training, you will return to beautiful Bonaire and have a job with a recognized MBO diploma.

We want to start the school year with 3-4 enthusiastic and carefully selected trainees and will do our utmost to make this program successful together. We have a great desire and ambition to expand this number. That’s why we are extremely careful. We want this project to succeed again this year, so we can make an impact and a difference together.
